Originally from Provence France, I practiced hiking all year round, cycling, skiing in winter, I discovered Pilates on the ground during my studies as a Physiotherapist in Belgium which helped me a lot in the practice of the different sports I love as well as during the pandemic it accompanied me mentally and physically when I was preparing my Master's degree in Management in England. I have been in Montreal for 2 years, where I became a Pilates Instructor. I progressed quickly in my training, teaching Matt Pilates, Barre, Reformer, MOTR, and now SRT with Studio Resistance! The practice of Pilates has allowed me to perform in the different sports I practice. I like exchanging and sharing exercises that help you feel good in your body and in your head, and strengthen while having fun with very catchy and motivating playlists!

My classes are supportive, challenging, and loud. Expect slow, controlled burn, big effort, and spicy tracks. You’ll shake, you’ll sweat, you’ll probably laugh, and you’ll definitely get stronger. I believe that everyone has more in them than they realize. When I’m through with you, you’ll believe it too. Come ready to work hard and leave feeling unstoppable.

John
Hi, I’m John! I’m a Personal Trainer and former Professional Dancer of 10 + years. Needless to say, I love movement! After I retired from dancing full time I discovered Pilates and group fitness as a way to keep my energy up and my body in tune. Eventually I stumbled across SRT at Studio Resistance and loved it so much that when the opportunity to get certified as a teacher arose, I jumped on it. Physically, you’ll experience a bit of everything in my class and be carried along by some fun and energetic electronic music. My top priority is creating a welcoming and supportive environment so that everyone can experience the joy of moving their bodies and the challenge that is SRT

Josie
Born and raised in Yellowknife, Northwest Territories, my movement journey began with dance and has taken me across the country as a professional performer, teacher, and choreographer. With a degree in dance, certifications in mat Pilates and SRT, and currently pursuing a Master’s in Dance Education Research, I’m passionate about helping people get stronger, move smarter, and feel good while doing it. When I’m not at the studio, you can find me at a spin class, or hanging out with my two cats. I’m so excited to be part of the Studio Resistance team and can’t wait to meet and move with everyone! In my classes, you’ll hear everything from pop, to classic rock, to nostalgic throwbacks. Favorite Resistance Move: Twisted Saw! It’s one of my favorites because it engages your obliques, challenges your core, and gives you that burn!

Kaia
Originally from Northern Ontario I was fortunate enough to grow up constantly moving from skiing/skating in the winter to soccer, hiking, and biking in the summer. Now living in Montreal as a professional dancer, with a degree in contemporary dance and certification in rehearsal direction, I have been looking for workouts that can compliment my training and be as low impact as possible. No better feeling than someone coming up to you saying they finally found the exercise that feels good and is fun for them. In my classes you will hear a variety of music from rnb for my 6am, to hip-hop and 90’s/2000’s throwbacks. Favourite resistance move: plank to pike, because it’s a great exercise to target those deep abdominals plus you feel super strong once you master it :)

Kayla
Hi, I’m Kayla! I'm a tech marketer by day who was looking for an effective, energizing workout that fit my busy schedule. I immediately fell in love with the Xformer and SRT method for its ability to deliver low-impact, high-intensity results. Now, with hundreds of hours on the machine, I'm excited to help others move with intention and discover that a great workout doesn't have to be intimidating or time-consuming. Expect good vibes, a welcoming space, and just the right amount of challenge in every class.

Kiera
I've been passionate about movement and music for as long as I can remember. After earning my degree in dance, I've continued to perform professionally across Canada. When I'm not dancing, you can find me teaching spin, barre, and Pilates, where my love for movement keeps growing. Combining my two passions, dance and fitness instruction, has been a perfect fit for me, and I love sharing this energy with others. I'm thrilled to be part of the Studio Resistance team and always look forward to seeing both new and familiar faces at the studio. In my classes, you'll hear everything from house music to 2000s throwbacks and everything in between. Favorite Resistance Move: Twister because it’s the perfect exercise to get that final oblique burn.

Marianne
I am first and foremost a contemporary dance performer and have been practicing this art since a young age. In 2022, I graduated from the professional artistic training program in contemporary dance at the École de danse contemporaine de Montréal. Early in my career, I began exploring different methods of daily movement through the worlds of fitness, Pilates, and Spinning. Naturally driven by a dancer’s fire, I became fascinated by the power the body can generate through these disciplines and quickly decided to certify myself in all three. My greatest inspiration is helping others express their passion for movement by blending music and training. My motto: “Practice does not make perfect, it makes permanent.”

Marina
With a background in figure skating, I've always sought a workout routine that I could genuinely enjoy and stick with. A few years ago, I discovered barre and Pilates, and these workouts made a remarkable difference for me both mentally and physically. Inspired by their impact, I decided to get certified so I could help others experience the same benefits. I love low-impact workouts that challenge our muscles effectively. To keep things lively, I often spice up my playlists with Caribbean-inspired music. Favorite Resistance Move: X-lunge because you feel the working leg and glute fire up right away while feeling a stretch in your other leg.

Nick
Nice to meet you, I’m Nick! I’m from Winnipeg, and in addition to teaching here, I teach a lot of yoga. Both are fantastic for alignment and well-being, so I like to let the two influence each other. I want my class to be a safe space for your personal practice, while still empowering you to challenge yourself. Fun fact: I was a classical singing major in university! Fitness overtook opera as my passion, but let’s just say I sing a mean shower aria!

Pantea
I’m Pantea! I’m a Cybersecurity consultant by day and so excited to be a coach at Résistance! I first discovered my passion for working out through yoga, where I learned how fulfilling it is to show up and feel yourself getting stronger and closer to your goals day after day. As I explored other ways of movement and found the SRT method at Résistance, I quickly fell in love with the workout and how it challenged me and helped me feel my best physically and mentally. Expect to hear lots of high energy pop and house music in my classes with some girly pop throwbacks songs thrown in here and there!

Sara
My love for movement and music started early! I began dancing at age three and never really stopped. Over the years, I’ve trained and taught in a variety of styles, with experience that’s taken me from the competitive dance world to teaching with the Royal Winnipeg Ballet and even abroad in Costa Rica. After spending most of my career in Winnipeg, I moved to Montreal in 2024 to keep growing, creating, and exploring new opportunities! I’m excited to be expanding into Pilates with Studio Résistance and love the way it supports strength, control, and longevity for movers of all backgrounds. I want my classes to feel welcoming and energizing, while still being a place where you can work hard without taking things too seriously. Expect good music like pop throwbacks, EDM, or hip hop, and a supportive vibe from start to finish!

Passionate about movement, I grew up dancing and figure skating. I fell in love with the SRT method, which delivers fast results through low-impact training. Helping and inspiring others has always been at the heart of who I am. I aim to share my passion for movement, health, and wellness through energetic and intentional classes. My goal is to guide and motivate each person on their journey, creating a supportive space where you feel encouraged, confident, and accomplished after every session

Sonia
My journey with movement began on the soccer field but was redirected by a broken foot, leading me to spinning. What started as rehab soon became a passion. I found a deep connection between physical activity and mental well-being, which inspired me to become a spin instructor. Now, I've expanded into Pilates and SRT, aiming to share the holistic benefits of exercise. I infuse my classes with music like dancehall, EDM, and hip hop, helping my students find joy, motivation, and accomplishment.

Arianne
Movement has always been my love language. For as long as I can remember, I’ve been fascinated by how the body transforms when we treat it with intention through nourishing foods, aligned training, and daily rituals that support our well-being. Becoming an XFormer Pilates instructor was a natural extension of that passion. Beyond the studio, I’m passionate about nutrition, wellness routines and everything that makes you feel your best; Glowing skin, balanced energy, strong posture and a peaceful mind.
If you drop by my class, expect a warm atmosphere, motivating playlists, and a coach who genuinely cares about your progress. My goal is that you leave feeling stronger, and more connected to your body than when you walked in.

Founders- Matt & Nair
Hailing from Montreal, Matt is a CPA and a partner at his thriving finance advisory firm. Nair, a Californian and a biomedical engineer turned lawyer, has led multiple IP and legal departments at tech startups and has been practicing high-intensity Pilates for over 15 years since discovering it in Los Angeles. Nair and Matt’s collective fitness past spans over 40 years of experience with yoga, running, soccer, tennis, weight training, climbing, and even motorcycle racing (Matt, NOT Nair). But their greatest collaboration is raising their two lively daughters (and son on the way!) in California and Montreal.
Now, they’re thrilled to introduce Resistance to Montreal, inviting everyone to join them in their quest for wellness, personal growth and energy. It’s more than just a routine; it’s about building a stronger, healthier community, one day and one workout at a time.
